The Association for Improving the Condition of the Poor in Paisley was formed at a meeting in the Court House in December 1878. Its founding purpose was to coordinate charitable efforts across the town and ensure that aid reached those most in need.
The Association has an entry in the 1884–1885 Paisley Directory and General Advertiser, demonstrating its early establishment as a recognised institution in the community.
In 2003 the charity was reinvented as Providing for People in Paisley (P³) to better meet the needs of modern society. Today it continues to support local organisations and individuals through grants, partnerships, and community programmes — building on a tradition of service stretching back nearly 150 years.
